Pittcon has been a face-to-face conference and exposition for 71 years, and it is their 72nd installment that they have decided to boldly embrace this ever-changing age. This March 8 – 12 will mark an historic transition reflective of the times: Pittcon 2021 will be a fully virtual event.
Pittcon is a dynamic, transnational exposition and comprehensive technical conference. It is a venue for presenting the latest advances in research and scientific instrumentation, and a platform for continuing education and career-enhancing opportunity. Pittcon’s mission has always been to advance scientific endeavor through collaboration, bringing together a world of knowledge to impact, enrich, and inspire the future of science.
Pittcon is a catalyst for the exchange of information, a showcase of the latest advances in laboratory science, and a venue for international connectivity. Pittcon 2021 will be no different, in fact, it is anticipated to reach an even more complete, more internationally diverse audience of chemists.
Pittcon’s forte has always been its technical programming and exposition. Through these, not only are participants able to access the latest research and techniques, but they also have the distinct opportunity to view, discuss, and question the most advanced instrumentation and complementary products available on the modern scientific market.

Technical Program
Though Pittcon may look a little different this year, the event will still provide the cooperative, interactive environment for which it has been acclaimed for decades. Participants will have access to world-renowned researchers presenting their discoveries, best practices, techniques, and applications. Pittcon 2021’s technical programming runs the entire week of the event, from Monday, March 8 through Friday, March 12, 2021.

The Pittcon 2021 Technical Program also features a very significant keynote lecture. On Monday, March 8 at 5:00 P.M., Pittcon will host Dr. Joseph Powell, Shell Chief Scientist – Chemical Engineering, as the 2021 Wallace H. Coulter Lecturer. The lecture is entitled The Industrial Laboratory for Energy and Chemicals: Past, Present, and Future.

Short Courses
Pittcon also offers its renowned Short Courses. These are continuing education courses where registrants are provided the opportunity to enhance their professional, technical, and scientific skill sets. An abundance of virtual Short Courses will be offered beginning March 1 and ending March 18, 2021.
Exposition
The three-day, live-virtual Pittcon Exposition will run from Monday, March 8 through Wednesday, March 10. Here, an international collection of exhibitors will display the most advanced analytical instrumentation on the market. Attendees will enjoy the virtual environment and the direct-to-exhibitor conversation tools, all from their offices, laboratories, or homes. Pittcon’s intent was never to simply transition the face-to-face Exposition into a virtual one, but instead, to create an entirely new virtual Exposition experience – for chemists to interact, to collaborate, and to find effective solutions to laboratory challenges while discovering new products that help enhance research.
Networking Sessions
Pittcon’s Networking Sessions have been an ever-anticipated facet of the conference and exposition year over year. This year’s Networking Sessions, albeit virtual, promise to be even more collaborative than before. Here, participants will attend facilitated virtual discussions on scientific topics of interest in a more casual and open atmosphere. More often than not, participants leave these sessions with a renewed, more enriched scientific perspective.
Employment Bureau
A successful Pittcon investment might very well be measured by the attainment of a new position, a promising interview, or a new staff member by the end of the event. Pittcon 2021 will feature a fully virtual Employment Bureau, allowing candidates to search and apply for open positions with participating companies, yielding virtual interviews with those companies during the week of Pittcon.

What many might not know is that proceeds from each and every Pittcon directly fund science education and outreach. Over 90% of Pittcon’s net profit goes on to fund primary and secondary education, continuing education, scholarships, laboratory improvements, and outreach activities.
